Eyelash Trends for 2021

It’s 2021, and luscious eyelashes are in. Since we don’t all come by them naturally, many of us have to explore different alternatives to get the long lashes we desire.

Many people resort to specialty mascaras and add multiple layers to achieve the eye-popping looks they desire — but that’s not the only option out there.

When traditional mascara doesn’t work, eyelash extensions can be a great alternative. There are so many types and options available that we’re sure you can get the long lashes you are looking for.

And of course, we’ve all seen the models and celebrities gracing the covers of magazines and starring in our favorite movies. It’s easy to envy their long lashes —  but the truth is that most of those lashes you’re swooning over are artificial (and that’s ok).

Many celebrity stylists resort to false eyelashes or extensions because they are easy to apply and give the glamorous look they’re going for.

Let’s take a look at what eyelash looks are trending in 2021 and how you can recreate the celebrity look for yourself or your clients.

Lash Trend #1. Funky-Colored Eyelashes

If you like the dramatic look of bold and beautiful makeup, colored eyelashes could be just what you’re looking for. Colored lashes can give a big pop of color that can make your eyes shine.

This trend started when a makeup artist went viral by matching her lipstick and false lashes. It’s no surprise that this daring look is trending in 2021.

Lash Trend #2. Hybrid Lashes

Hybrid lashes are the best combination of natural and false lashes. They provide a volume and shape that isn’t easily achieved with natural lashes alone.

Lash Trend #3. Eyelash Embellishments

Embellishments like gemstones may seem a little intimidating at first, but they are one of the easiest ways to make your eyelashes stand out. We expect to see a lot more types of appliques being created this year.

Some of the trending lashes right now are BL Lashes’ Glitter Lash and Jewel Lash.

Lash Trend #4. Volume Lashes

Mascara and serum can’t create lashes where they don’t exist — that’s where fake lashes and extensions come in. Volume lashes are created by using 2 to 8 super-fine extensions that are attached to a single lash to create a high-volume feathered and fluffy look.

Lash Trend #5. The Wet Look

Thanks to wearing masks that cover up part of our face, more and more people are trying to achieve a natural look without contouring and full-face coverups. Our eyes are more important than ever and the wet look trend is all about matching the ultra-natural look. It focuses on creating a style that resembles how your lashes look after you’ve washed your face but before your eyelashes have been fluffed. This look is achieved by using slim, nearly closed-volume fans of lashes.

This look is achieved with a group of fine lash extensions — typically 0.03 to 0.07 mm. Instead of opening them up and fanning them out, you would keep them closed, dip lightly in glue, and apply them to the natural lashes. The finished lashes should be visually bolder and thicker. You can also wrap them around the natural lashes to get better retention than a classic lash.

Lash Trend #6. Ultra-High Volume Lashes

For Hollywood-style lashes, stylists combine up to 5 lashes on natural lashes to extend their lashes by 1 to 2 mm. This process significantly intensifies your lash line without the need for eyeliner. These styles of lashes are also much lighter than classical lash extensions so they don’t cause as much damage to the natural lash.

Lash Trend #7. L and M Curls

L and M curls were traditionally used for hooded eyes, but they are quickly becoming a viral trend in 2021, thanks to their lash-lifting results.

This style creates an elongated effect that gives a sultry cat-eye look that’s very alluring.

Lash Trend #8. Textured Eyelashes

Some clients prefer to have a flair and unique expression that can only be created by mixing eyelashes and using a variety of various diameters, curls, and lengths. This allows you to create a feathery look that looks natural and amazing. Natural and textured lashes are definitely trending in 2021.
